Creating a duplicate company database

Problem Details:

How do I create a duplicate company database? 

 

Solution:

Add a new duplicate database using the following steps:

  1. Create a new SQL database container in MS SQL Server (this should be performed by a system administrator, Tech Support Agent or Certified Consultant)

  2. Set up the new company database in Database Setup. (this should be performed by a system administrator, Tech Support Agent or Certified Consultant) Consider strongly giving the new company a different colour from the original to help prevent errors in data entry.   3. Dump the data from the existing database. See the following: Backup Sage 300 Data Process Using Database Dump

  4. Load the data into the new database container. See the following: Restore Sage 300 Data using Database Load

  5. FIRST, go to Common Services -> Company Profile and change the Company Name to distinguish it from the original company. Again, consider giving the copied company a different colour to help prevent data entry errors

  6. Begin processing in the new database
