When importing an excel file into Sage, the following error is displayed:
"External Table is not in the Expected Format"
While this error may actually indicate the format of the Excel file is not correct, it may also indicate corruption in the user _p.ism file. This will be indicated if the file is able to be imported by one user, but not another.
Browse to the shared data folder. The shared data location is specified under Help / System Information.
Click on the Users folder, and locate the User for which the import produces the error. Open that folder. There will be files in that folder specific to each companyID and ending in _p.ism. (For example: ABCDAT_p.ism) Rename this file and have the user logout of Sage and then log back in. The files will be re-created at the time of login, and the import should now proceed successfully. However, all print settings will be reset back to default. This means the user will have to reset the print destination, and may need to browse to any custom reports to establish and save those settings again.
